BILLIE JEAN MASSEY

Billie Jean Massey, 85, passed away on March 21, 2023, with her family by her side.

A visitation for Billie was held on Saturday, March 25, 2023, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Funeral Services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2023, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell.

Burial followed at Providence Cemetery.

Billie Jean Massey was born in Dallas, Texas, on April 14, 1937, to J. K. Corley and Blanche Bevers.

Billie married the love of her life, Jack Massey, on April 16, 1955, in Bryan, Texas. They were married just shy of 68 years.

Billie was known as a great cook. She made the best peanut brittle, caramel corn, and banana pudding.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, (everyone who knew her had something from her that she had crocheted), gardening and watching the hummingbirds enjoy her flowers. Billie was employed and retired from the Bryan Independent School District after 35 years, and over half of those years she was a cafeteria manager.

Billie was preceded in death by her father, J. K. Corley; her mother and stepfather, Blanche and Frank Sefcik; her son, David Ray Massey; and a grandson, Matthew K. Englemann.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Jack Massey; her daughter, Jeannie Englemann and husband, Kenny; her daughter-in-law, Sherri Massey; her sister, Debbie Lightsey; sister-in-law, Earlene Massey; her grandchildren, Adam Englemann and (Tricia Mushinski), Victoria Ruiz and husband, Tony, and Jonathan Massey and wife, Amanda; her 5 greatgrandchildren, Charlie, Jack and Alexandra Ruiz and Adelia Ray and Billie Rose Massey; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Pallbearers were Adam Englemann, Jonathan Massey, Tony Ruiz, Paul Patranella, David Bevers and Bubba Rosenkranz.

Honorary pallbearers were Charlie Ruiz and Jack Ruiz.
